It’s hot sunny evening on Friday 18th July 2025 as we arrive at the Ipswich Town Football Club Ground in Portman Road joining the our for registration of my second Twilight 10K around the streets of Ipswich Town Centre.
Not going to lie I’m a little nervous as we only returned from Holiday the evening before and I haven’t been that well over the past few days, so tonight was going to be tough. I collected my Bib number 614 and then prepared myself for the race ahead. 7.30 on the dot the gun went of and the 1300 runners set of.
I made the typical mistake and setup too fast but felt good and the first lap of the 2 lap course I was feeling good albeit a little hot. As I started the second lap I grabbed a bottle of water, boy it was welcome, though I always struggle taking on water mid run, just not got the technique yet. As I hit the 7K mark and started a small gentle slope I was struggling and had to walk. Over the remaining 3K to the finish I had a couple of walking breaks but crossed the finish line in position 848 with a time if 1hour 6mins , not by best time but better then I thought.
The atmosphere along the course was really good with an impressive turn out of people to watch. Big thanks to all the volunteers who make this and many other races possible.
